Arts & Business Scotland Opens Nominations for 2011 Awards

Arts organisations and businesses have been invited to nominate their partnerships for recognition at the Arts & Business Scotland Awards 2011. This year sees the 25th anniversary of Arts & Business Scotland, making these Awards among the longest running in Scotland.

The winners will be announced at a celebratory dinner at the Aberdeen Music Hall on 26 October 2011. Each winner will receive a specially commissioned Award created by Fraser Reid and Nick Ross, lecturers at Grays School of Art in Aberdeen.

This year a new Award that celebrates individual philanthropy will be launched in recognition of this area as increasingly important in arts fundraising.
An independent panel of Judges will be chaired by Peter Sharp from McGrigors LLP and made up with an experienced selection of individuals from business and the arts. Sponsorship partnerships that took place between 1 April 2010 and 31 March 2011 are able to enter. The deadline for nominations is 5pm, Friday May 6th 2011.

Barclay Price, Director of Arts & Business Scotland said: “With concern about potential future funding cuts it is all the more important to recognise the contribution by Scottish businesses and donors in supporting Scotland’s vibrant cultural life. The Arts & Business Scotland Awards achieve this by celebrating the most dynamic and mutually rewarding partnerships between the worlds of culture and commerce.’
