Buxton Joins run2work Movement

Buxton Natural Mineral Water is the latest official partner to join the run2work movement. The move sees the British water brand extend its association with the running community, having become the official water of the Virgin Money London Marathon this year, and supports its insight that running is a popular activity among its core target audience.

As part of the deal, Buxton Water will be undertaking a number of promotions to support the run2work movement, including sampling to runners across the London Underground Tube network and on #run2workday, this Thursday 2 October and the first Thursday of every month.

Buxton is encouraging customers to join in #run2workday and support the campaign for the costs of running shoes and equipment to be included in the Government’s tax-free Cycle to Work scheme so running to work is also tax-free.

Barclays, Bruin Financial, Capita, GE, Morrisons, Virgin Group and Vodafone, employing over 350,000 staff between them, are a few of Britain’s biggest businesses encouraging staff to take part in #run2workday.   Launched by Boris Johnson and Olympians including Perri Shakes-Drayton and Hannah England, #run2workday is a social movement encouraging people to get active through running to or from work on a regular basis, whether part or all the way.

More than 750,000 people in the UK Cycle to Work, with over 500,000 of those doing so through employer tax-free Cycle to Work schemes.  run2work is campaigning for the cost of running shoes and clothing to be included within the legislation that enables employees to purchase equipment for cycling to work tax-free.  A tax incentive on the costs of running shoes and equipment would create behavioural change and encourage more people to lead a healthier lifestyle through running to work.

Alberto Kechler, Senior Brand Manager for Buxton Natural Mineral Water said: “We are delighted to be supporting the run2work movement, underlining our ongoing commitment to promoting the important role that healthy hydration plays in a healthy lifestyle. Running to work is a great way of keeping fit and when combined with adequate hydration, can make you feel great for the rest of the day. #run2workday is a great campaign to encourage people to put at least one day a month in their diary as their day to run to or from work, whether part or all of the way.”

Gordon Lott of run2work said: “We have an obesity crisis in the UK which is leading more people than ever before to be diagnosed with diabetes, and as a nation we are less physically active than we have ever been.  What more evidence do we need to take action and help more people get active in their workplace and on their journeys to and from work?  We’re delighted Buxton has joined the movement, they will play an invaluable role in encouraging more people to run to work and we hope more businesses will take their lead”.
